Pugh Hosts City's First Web Town Hall Meeting
DETROIT (WWJ) - History was made in Detroit City Council offices, Wednesday. Council President Charles Pugh held the city of Detroit's first ever Web Town Hall meeting using a variety of social media.
Detroit citizens were able to send in their questions via Facebook, Skype, Twitter or text message.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Marie Osborne reports that Pugh took a variety of questions. The first was from a student at the College for Creative Studies, via Facebook, voicing her concerns about the Woodward Ave. light rail project.
Many of the questions pertained to crime.
Pugh said it's time to embrace social media in city government. He said he'd like to begin holding these town hall meetings once a month.
