Pug-O-Ween Returns For Halloween
ROMULUS (WWJ) - If you take your dog along for the Halloween season revelry -- and you should -- then this event is right up your alley: The Pug Rescue Network will be hosting their annual Pug-O-Ween event on October 13th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UAW Hall Local 174 in Romulus.
This year's Pug-O-Ween features events for dogs and owners alike. There will be contests for curliest tail, oldest pug, best costume, best group theme and a pug/human look alike contest. There will also be pug races including a "special Olympics" style race for senior pugs and pugs with disabilities.
Many of our foster pugs will be there for the public to meet and hopefully begin the adoption process. Information regarding volunteering and fostering will also be available. It is a great time to meet up with other dog owners (all breeds welcome), and to learn more about this loving, curious and hysterically funny breed.
This event is the Pug Rescue Network's (PRN) main fundraiser for fall. Proceeds go to pay vet and adoption expenses as well as to buy food and supplies for the rescued pugs. The event is also a fun way to promote rescue pet adoption, as the number of animals in shelters is rising higher and higher. PRN also strives to educate owners on the health problems of pugs and all dogs.
The Pug Rescue Network is a non-profit rescue run entirely by volunteers and dedicated to saving pugs from dangerous or unhealthy situations. The PRN improve their lives by taking them in, seeing to their health and behavioral needs and placing the pugs with new families. Since September 2004, PRN has rescued 306 pugs in and around Michigan.
The cost of the event is $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. Dogs are free to get in. For more information, click here.
