Pubs Are Crawling With St. Patrick's Day Celebrations
PLYMOUTH (WWJ) - It's Saint Patrick's Day -- and there are lots of celebrations going on in metro Detroit.
Sean O'Callahan's Public House in downtown Plymouth is crowded with revelers like Maria Furdero of Livonia with friends and the beer was flowing from the early morning hours.
"...It's been going on for generations and generations in my family, just keeping it going, " said Furdero.
Furdero is half Irish and like most is wearing green.
"It's our busiest day of the year," said pub owner Sam Kashan, "I'm sure it is for all Irish pubs."
Meghan Rowe of Plymouth was enjoying an early start on the celebrations.
"It's a great day - we're out here having fun, celebrating with friends," said Rowe.
Rowe and her friends were all decked out in green for the big day. Shirts, hats, beads even a flashing shamrock ring.
Matt Shenkel of Canton stopped by with friends: "St. Paddy's day beats every other day. The fact that it's on a Saturday just makes it that much better."
The day is "pretty big" for Shannon Allen of Canton who is Irish: "We used to go every year - take work off, then we had kids and we haven't been out in 10 years," laughed Allen.
The pub has live music and cab rides for anyone who needs one.
