Public Visitation Set For Frederik Meijer
GRAND RAPIDS (AP) - A public visitation is scheduled for billionaire philanthropist and retail pioneer Frederik Meijer.
The visitation will run from 2-10 p.m. Tuesday at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids.
A private memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday.
Meijer was credited with starting the super-center store format in the 1960s that made Meijer a successful Midwest retailer.
He died Friday at Spectrum Health System in Grand Rapids after suffering a stroke at home. Meijer was 91.
