Protesters Building A Wall To Stop Trump From Speaking In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Will a wall keep Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump from speaking in Detroit? That's the hope of local protesters after hearing of the plan of The Donald to speak at the Detroit Economic Club on Monday.

A post for an event by the Facebook group 'Cockroach Watch' invites attendees to help "build a wall to 'wall off Trump.'"

Cockroach Watch bills itself as a citizen watchdog group and community activists with special emphasis on issues within the city of Detroit like city services, foreclosures, and police brutality.

Trump has been divisive in his rhetoric during his campaign railing against immigrants, Muslims, veterans, and most recently crying babies in his audience.

Another plan for a 200-foot-long wall (of sandbags) within site of Trump's building in New York is also in the works.

"Trump calls for the building of a wall, defaming and slandering Mexican people—well, what if we turn his words against him, and wall him in?" Wall Campaign Organizer David Haggerty told Wired.com. this week.

Trump will be speaking to members of the Detroit Economic Club Monday, Aug. 8 in the afternoon.
