Prosecutors Want 37 Months For Sam Riddle
Prosecutors are recommending 37 months in prison for corrupt political consultant Sam Riddle, the same punishment given to his ally, Detroit ex-councilwoman Monica Conyers.
Riddle pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy, a charge that covered his crimes with Conyers and a Southfield councilman.
The government accused Riddle and Conyers of shaking down businesses for thousands of dollars in exchange for help at city hall. Conyers admitted taking bribes for a sludge contract. She began serving her sentence three weeks ago.
Riddle will be sentenced next Wednesday but he's been in custody since May. He wanted to start earning time toward his ultimate punishment.
