Prosecutor: Vet Was The "Initial Aggressor"

DETROIT (WWJ) - No charges will be filed in the case of a Westland military vet who claimed he was beaten outside a 7- Eleven last week.

Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy says the facts in the case support that the veteran was the "initial aggressor" in the fight with three men.

Worthy said in a statement that the veteran initially started hitting one of the men, then chased the other two when they tried to run from the scene.

Initially, the 25-year-old Livonia man, a veteran of the U.S. armed services, told police that three men started harassing him inside the store. When he went outside, the men followed.

The victim had told police the incident escalated after the trio noticed the military decals on his vehicle. After several derogatory remarks, the three men allegedly attacked the victim, repeatedly kicking and punching him.
