Progress Report For Tether Progam Over Halloween Weekend
DETROIT (WWJ) - The Wayne County Sheriff's Department is releasing its latest "progress report" on a program aimed at keeping dangerous criminals in-check.
WWJ's Pat Sweeting spoke with Lt. Dennis Ramel with the Wayne County Sheriff's Electronic Monitoring program.
"We concentrated on those type of offenses, assaultive offenses and things like that," said Lt. Dennis Ramel. "Some of the 124 were facing arson charges or had the arson charge in their criminal history."
More than a dozen deputies dropped in over the three-day period around the Halloween weekend.
Eight of the 124 felons on the tether program where NOT at home -- they were found and ordered back to their homes with a warning. One of the eight, a convicted sex offender, spent the night in jail.
"At home, with the lights off, one was not home when he was supposed to be -- we were able to make contact with him, we were able to swiftly get him back home," said Lt. Ramel - then to jail.
