Problems Slow Monday Morning Commute
Too much garbage -- and not enough clearance -- led to a big problem Monday morning on I-94.
WWJ's Ron Dewey, reporting live from the scene, says rush-hour commuters were slowed as a result of a trash hauler with a little too much payload in the back. It was sheared off when the truck went under an overpass, leaving trash all over the pavement.
Along with the trash, there was still some standing water, especially for drivers trying to jump off I-94 at Gratiot. To go along with that, there was some standing water on the Lodge freeway near West Grand Boulevard.
Add with that this time of year: plenty of potholes -- a series of them on the southbound lanes of I-75 in the right hand lane as drivers pass the Davison freeway. As a result, at least one person had to pull off to change a tire.
