Tigers' Prince Fielder Files For Divorce From Wife Of 8 Years
DETROIT (WWJ) - Could Detroit Tigers slugger Prince Fielder's impending divorce have something to do with his slumping performance on the field?
Court records show that Fielder filed a dissolution-of-marriage case on May 28, asking a judge to end his marriage to Chanel Fielder.

The two were married in 2005 during the Triple-A All-Star break while Fielder was playing for the Nashville Sounds. They have two young sons together.
Fielder signed a nine-year, $214 million contract with the Tigers in Jan. 2012. It wasn't immediately clear, however, if he and his wife have a prenuptial agreement, which could potentially protect Fielder's fortune in the divorce.
After hearing news of Fielder's divorce, many Tigers' fans are starting to wonder if that's why he's been struggling this year. Not that Fielder is doing bad, he's just not performing to the standard fans have become used to.
Fielder's batting average at the end of last year was .313. On the contrast, Fielder is currently hitting .245 this season, which is down from .267 before the All-Star break, with 17 home runs and 81 RBIs.
