Prince Fielder Commercial To Debut On FSD This Sunday
DETROIT – Prince Fielder goes way back with the Detroit Tigers. Not only with his prodigious blasts off his powerful bat, but also with memories of his days as a youngster in the Tigers clubhouse. Fielder is the focus of the latest "Who's Your Tiger?" television commercial, which highlights both his powerful swings and powerful ties to the organization of his youth.
The new commercial featuring Fielder will make its debut on FOX Sports Detroit during the broadcast of the Tigers series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates at 1:05 p.m. this Sunday. The commercial will also air throughout the Tigers viewing area in the coming weeks.
The Fielder feature is the second in a series of four commercials produced by SMZ Advertising of Troy, and follows on the heels of a powerful piece that featured Tigers ace Justin Verlander explaining how he uses fan support to fuel his triple-digit fastball late in games.
"The 'Who's Your Tiger?' campaign has always provided a way to strengthen the connection the fans have to their favorite players by highlighting their on-field performance," said Debbie Michelson, Executive Vice President and Group Account Director for SMZ. "This new creative for the campaign allows the fans to connect with them in a more personal way by giving the players a chance to talk directly to their fans."
The opportunity to speak directly to the fans was important when working with SMZ to determine the style and tone of the commercial series. "Tigers fans are among the most passionate and knowledgeable in all of sports," said Tigers Vice President of Marketing, Ellen Hill Zeringue. "They follow every pitch, every catch and every at-bat, making the players a part of their lives nearly year round. It was important to have these commercials speak to the fans, in the player's own words, about how important their support is to the team's success every day."
Now that Verlander and Fielder have had the opportunity to talk to fans through the innovative "Who's Your Tiger?" commercial spots, reigning American League batting champion Miguel Cabrera is on deck to star in the third commercial, which is slated to complete production in the coming weeks and air later this season.
The fourth Tigers player in the series has yet to be revealed, prompting a familiar and fitting question: Who's Your Tiger?
