President Obama Delivers State Of The Union Address Tonight
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - The economy will again be the focus as President Barack Obama delivers his State of the Union speech Tuesday night.
The President will discuss an economic blueprint with many of the elements Americans have heard before -- embracing manufacturing, energy development and education.

Vincent Hutchings, a Political Science Professor at the University of Michigan, talked about what likely won't come up.
"It would be great if he said something about income inequality and about racial inequality, but I expect he won't do either. He probably won't because he doesn't see it being to his elector advantage. It's not something that will benefit him or his party," said Hutchings said, adding that the State of the Union is not typically known for it's surprises.
"Presidents ... have campaigned on particular policies and then they highlight those when they give their State of the Union address," he said. "There might be some surprises in the sense of the emphasis and the tone, but in terms of the content I doubt there'll be any surprises."
President Obama is expected to announce the withdrawal of 34,000 U.S. troops from Afghanistan within a year, which Hutchings says will likely get done without delays from Congress.
"Presidents have more latitude when it comes to foreign policy matters or matters involving the armed forces. So it's not that Congress plays no role here, but I suspect that their leverage is considerably diminished when it comes to a matter of this sort," Hutchings said.
The decision marks the next phase of the plan to end the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
