Researchers Link Levels Of Vitamin D During Pregnancy To Child's Strength

DETROIT (WWJ)  - A supplement moms-to-be can take during their pregnancy may help make their babies stronger as they grow.

WWJ Health Reporter Sean Lee reports that British researchers have found that children are more likely to have stronger muscles if their mothers had a higher level of Vitamin D in their bodies during pregnancy.

The study measured Vitamin D levels in nearly 700 women in the later stages of pregnancy. Researchers later measured grip strength and muscle mass of children at age four.

The results showed that the higher the levels of Vitamin D for mom the higher the grip strength for the child.

If you are already pregnant talk to your doctor before adding any vitamins to what you are already taking.
