Powermat Launches New Product Line
The Commerce Township wireless charging technology provider Powermat Monday announced a new second-generation line of products.
The company says the new line expands the breadth of Powermat receivers to support even more of today's most popular smartphones with thinner, sleeker, and more form-fitting options and incorporates an array of power-on-the-go products that lets consumers charge their devices even when there is no outlet in sight.
Powermat's Gen 2 line, available just one year after the company's launch and category-pioneering success, is now available in more than 18,000 retail locations across the United States and Canada.
Responding to consumer feedback, Powermat newest solutions are super slim and form-fitting and include a broad assortment of receivers for many of today's most popular Smartphones including the iPhone 4, HTC's Evo and HD2, the Motorola Droid X, the Blackberry Bold 9700 series, the Blackberry Curve 8500/9300 series and the Nokia N97/
The new products incorporate Powermat's wireless charging technology directly into back doors specific to each device, closely mimicking the manufacturers' original design; in construction, detail and texture. Consumers need only pop on the receiver once, then simply drop and charge, with no more plugging and unplugging. The slim new receiver design is achieved by significant miniaturization of Powermat electronic components, reducing their thickness by more than half; from 3.4 to just 1.6mm.
For the consumer, this means that bulk has been literally slashed by more than 50 percent of what it had been when Powermat was launched. This breakthrough is so significant that it's almost impossible to distinguish between those devices that have wireless capability built-in and those that do not by simply looking at the device.
Similarly, as new generations of popular Smartphones -- like the iPhone 4 -- hit the market in significantly slimmed down versions of their former selves, Powermat's ability to miniaturize its technology has allowed the company to keep pace with the slimmer, sleeker versions of these most popular devices.
iPhone 4 users will especially appreciate the newest option that Powermat has devised just for them. The sleek and form-fitting receiver also doubles as a protective case that incorporates an easy-to-use flip top design for inserting and removing the iPhone 4.
Each of the new receivers will be sold at retail as singular options or as part of a complete charging solution that includes a single position mat and its own power supply; everything consumers need to wirelessly charge their Smartphones in one convenient package.
"Just one year ago, we introduced the world to the ease and convenience of wireless charging. Our success has directly resulted from the consumers' need to be connected at all times and to always have their devices charged," said Ran Poliakine, CEO. "Our current line was developed with significant consumer input and what consumers demanded were three things: slimmer receivers, broader device support, and a completely wireless solution for when there are no outlets in sight. We're delighted to deliver on all three fronts."
In addition to the sleek new receiver options, Powermat is also ushering in the next phase in the evolution of wireless charging with its new power-on-the-go series. The on-the-go technology inlcudes the Powermat Portable 2x Rechargeable Mat. Being launched exclusively at Best Buy, the Portable 2x incorporates a built-in 7200 mAh lithium polymer battery that charges up to two Powermat-enabled devices independently and simultaneously.
The Portable 2x is easily foldable and comes with its own carrying case for maximum convenience and portability. It provides up to four full charges for most Smartphones and more for many of today's other most popular electronics. The complete solution also comes with Powermat's multi-purpose Powercube: the ultimate catch-all solution that includes 8 unique tips -- including mini and micro USBs -- for charging hundreds of devices including the eReaders, MiFi cards, Bluetooth headsets, and much more.
Offering even greater flexibility for wireless power on-the-go, Powermat's Dual 1850 and 1200 rechargeable back-up batteries incorporate both an Apple and Micro USB connector; for an all-in-one solution that can charge up to two devices simultaneously, including power hungry smartphones, all Apple devices, Bluetooth headsets, MiFi cards, and much more.
"It's the essential travel companion," said Ron Ferber, president. "Simply throw our Power rechargeable battery into your briefcase, purse, bag or pocket and go anywhere with the confidence that comes from knowing you'll have hours of extra battery life when you need it."
As with all Powermat products, Power is easily rechargeable utilizing any of the Powermat mat surfaces and can also be recharged via the included USB cable.
Powermat allows users to enable their electronic devices once with a Powermat receiver and then set down up to three devices on the charging mat for safe and effective wireless charging. It's simple, effortless, and provides consumers with first-of-its-kind freedom from the need to constantly plug/unplug.
Powermat technology is versatile and can be built directly into almost any surface enabling wireless charging capability. More and more, companies outside traditional technology industries are working with Powermat to incorporate the company's inductive charging technology into a variety of settings that will benefit the consumer.
Powermat was the first company to perfect inductive-based wireless charging and to then bring it to consumers in a widely available, meaningful way via mainstream retail channels and undisputedly leads the category in all facets including technology, retail footprint, consumer experience, and brand.
