Power Returning To Homes After Storm
DETROIT (WWJ) - UPDATE - DTE says only 2,000 remain without power this evening ... with most expected to have service restored later Sunday night.
DTE Energy says at their peak, Saturday night's showers and thunderstorms knocked out power to 23,000 area residents and business owners. That number increased from the reported 19,000 outages. That number has been cut by more than half, thanks to the efforts of DTE repair crews overnight.
"This storm was not of a scale to get assistance to get assistance from other utilities, it's one we can handle well on our own," said DTE Energy spokesman John Austerberry.
DTE reports that about 10,000 customers still remain without electricity Sunday afternoon.
That's DTE Energy spokesman John Austerberry, who says roughly 5,800 of the remaining outages are in Wayne County ... while another 3,500 are in Oakland County.
"Overnight we did repair a little more than half, the plan is to get all, if not most of those restored today (Sunday) although there may be some small scattered, single outages that we will need to tend to on Monday," said Austerberry.
It is hoped most everyone will be back on-line before day's end.
