Power Out As Temps Hit 100 In Ann Arbor
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Around 6,600 home and businesses lost power in Ann Arbor on Thursday, as temperatures peaked at 100 degrees in the city.
DTE Energy reports that a fire at a transformer on State Street is to blame for the blackout. Other streets affected included Stadium Boulevard, Packard and Eisenhower.
Briarwood Mall lost power, according to an employee.
There were also several thousand outages reported in the White Lake area in Oakland County and in Sterling Heights.
A Heat Advisory was issued for Thursday, but it was unclear if the power problem was heat-related.
Repair crews have been dispatched, but it's not yet known when the power will be back on.
