Potential Jurors Questioned For Bashara Murder Trial
DETROIT (WWJ) - The jury selection process has started in the case of Bob Bashara, a Grosse Pointe business man charged in the murder of his wife.
Bashara has already been convicted of trying to put a hit on the man he allegedly hired to kill Jane Bashara; her body was found in her SUV in an alley in Detroit.
During the ensuing investigation, details of her husband's secret life of bondage and underground sex clubs emerged.
The Wayne County Circuit Court Judge hearing the case issued a four-page questionnaire to three groups of 50 potential jurors each. Judge Vonda Evans told prosecutors and defense attorneys her aim is to whittle the jury pool, without giving the appearance of a rush to get to a trial.
"We have come to far, for the court to error in its rush to have the case started, so therefore, I'm putting on the breaks," said Evans. "And I want to do that, I have this questionnaire, I want you to review it, if you have any objections you can make them , if not, forever hold your peace because we are going forward."
It has been previously reported the judge expects jury selection to take a day or two, and the trial to take from four to eight weeks.
Bashara is already serving time for trying to order a hit on a man he allegedly hired to kill his wife.
