Pot, Cocaine, Cash Seized In Pontiac Drug Bust
PONTIAC (WWJ) - A 34-year-old Pontiac man faces drug charges after police said they caught him with a large stash of marijuana and cocaine.
Oakland County Sheriff's officials said they arrested Mark Hollis after responding to an attempted break-in at a home on Crawford Street near Orchard Lake Road.
When deputies blocked in Hollis' van outside the home, they spotted a large amount of cash and some rolling papers in plain view on the vehicle's center console. Deputies noticed a strong smell of marijuana emitting from the van. Inside, they found 12 grams.
A K-9 search of the can later revealed 421 grams of cocaine with a street value of over $200,000. Over $10,400 in cash was also seized.
"It was a combination of heads-up police work and having the right tools. In this case, a K-9, was used to successfully investigate and prosecute a number of crimes," said Sheriff Michael Bouchard in a statement.
Hollis was arraigned on Thursday and is being held $25,000 personal bond. His next court date is set for next week.
