Possible Widespread Dog-Fighting Ring Investigated In Pontiac
PONTIAC (WWJ) - The Oakland County Prosecutor is investigating whether to bring charges against a host of people for an alleged widespread dog-fighting ring in Pontiac.
Assistant Prosecutor Paul Walton says 18 dogs have been confiscated from six Pontiac homes.
Walton said they're still looking into whether to bring charges in the case.
"The investigation is at this point simply alleging there are six potential areas that need to be looked in further. How many individuals will ultimately be charged, if any, will depend on what the evidence is," Walton said.
"The sheriff's department submitted to us a request for a review on a warrant charge of possession of animals could be used for dog fighting and also the equipment to train animals," he said.
The dogs are housed at Animal Control. Walton says officials there will decide whether or not they should be put down.
