Possible Human Skull Found In Brownstown Township
BROWNSTOWN TWP. (WWJ) - Police in Brownstown Township are investigating the recent discovery of what's thought to be a human skull.
Police say a man brought the skull into the police department around 4:30 p.m. last Friday.
The man apparently told police he found the skull in a wooded area of the township while he was searching for deer antlers.
Police say they followed the man to the location where the skull was found, although no additional evidence was recovered. Police said they are not disclosing the location.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office is now in possession of the skull, waiting for forensic review.
It's not clear if the skull is linked to the disappearance of Lizzie Mae Collier-Sweet, who hasn't been seen since her house caught fire in January 2007. Collier-Sweet's husband, who at one point was considered a suspect in her disappearance, told police he thinks his wife set the fire and then killed herself in the nearby woods.
Police would not comment on the possible Collier-Sweet's connection.
