Pontiac's Election Workers Protest City Clerk's Firing
PONTIAC (WWJ) - Voters go to the polls in Pontiac, but will anyone else be there?
Many of Pontiac's election workers say they won't be at the polls Tuesday, as a way to protest the firing of City Clerk Yvette Talley by Pontiac's emergency financial manager.
Oakland County Clerk Bill Bullard was asked to come in and help train and coordinate election workers, and the Secretary of State's office has also been notified. There are contingency plans, but it's uncertain will happen if precinct workers are a no-show in Pontiac.
Details on the issues at stake and candidates running for election are available here.
The polls are open from 7am - 8pm. WWJ Newsradio 950 and CBS Detroit.com will be providing complete election coverage.
