Pontiac Woman Dies, Shot While Interrupting Burglary
PONTIAC (WWJ) - A Pontiac woman who was attacked in her home on Tuesday has died.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Department said the 33-year-old Tanisha Silas was shot multiple times on Tucker, near Elizabeth Lake Road and Telegraph. The victim was found, by her husband, lying on the kitchen floor around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said the home had been ransacked and it appeared Silas interrupted a home invasion in progress.
Police said the suspects fled the scene in Silas' silver 2005 Ford Explorer was stolen. It was recovered early Wednesday morning in the west parking lot of Doctor's Hospital in Pontiac, located about one mile west of the crime scene.
Silas was hospitalized in critical condition but passed away at around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Oakland County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy Thursday.
Investigators said Silas' husband isn't a suspect and has been "totally cooperative." The couple had been married about a year and have no children.
There have been no arrests.
