Pontiac Man Arrested In Road Rage Shooting
PONTIAC (WWJ) - A 37-year-old Pontiac man has been arrested after an apparent road rage shooting.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard says the suspect fired two shots into a car at a stop sign at Williams and Pike just after midnight Thursday. He then followed the car at the intersection of Exchange and Orchard Lake Road where he fired again
According to Bouchard, the suspect and the driver and passenger in the other car had exchanged words in a traffic dispute.
Bouchard told WWJ Newsradio 950 the shooting is a good warning to drivers who run into problems with other motorists on the road.
"The best thing to do is get away from them, go in the opposite direction, do not engage them," Bouchard said. "Even if you're the aggrieved party, if they cut you off, because you never know who you're gonna run into."
"You don't know what's going on in their head," he added. "It's not worth it."
Bouchard said the shooter is a convicted felon who did not have permission to carry the .38-caliber handgun that was confiscated from his car.
No one was injured.
The suspect's name was not immediately released.
