Pontiac Ditching Downtown Parking Meters
PONTIAC (WWJ/AP) - The city of Pontiac is getting rid of downtown parking meters.
The state-appointed emergency financial manager Lou Schimmel announced the decision last week.
Schimmel says the cost to collect change and maintain meters outstripped revenue.
Meters are being removed and the posts on which they sat will be taken down later.
The meters are being replaced with signs saying two-hour parking is permitted. But parking tickets will still be issued for violators.
