Pontiac and Hamtramck Fighting Rash of Fires
The city of Pontiac is on alert as police look for a suspected serial arsonist.
16 unoccupied homes and apartments have gone up in flames throughout the city since March -- nearly a dozen in the past month.
Pontiac arson investigators and the Oakland County Sheriff's Office are working to solve the crimes and are offering a $5,000 reward. One resident is even posting photos of the scorched homes on Facebook to draw attention to the problem.
Meanwhile, there's been another fire in Highland Park, and it could be the work of an arsonist. Fire crews were called to the scene of a fire at a vacant church building on Hamilton near Highland.
The Hamtramck fire department was called in to assist. There were no reports of injuries. Police have been investigating several suspicious fires that were started in the city last month.
