Tonight: Tigers Game Vs. VP Debate
DETROIT (WWJ) - Which will you watch on TV Thursday night? The vice-presidential debate or the Tigers game?
As Democratic Vice President Joe Biden faces off against GOP VP hopeful Paul Ryan, the Tigs will take on the Oakland Athletics in game 5 of the American League Division Series. Both battles are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. EST.
Among Metro Detroiters talking to WWJ's Ron Dewey, the Tigers win the popular vote.
Some responses:
"The Tigers, for sure. I can't watch the debates; they're too boring."
"Yeah, the game ... I think it's a lot more exciting than watching the debate ... (Politicians) are a bunch of crooks."
"I'm hoping that the Tigers win this game -- that was a heart crush last night. Politics, I try to stay away from ... right now anyway."
One man said he won't be tuning in to either.
"(Tigers Manager Jim) Leland has to go, take Papa Grande (pitcher José Valverde) with him -- the guy can't even hold water in a cup, let alone a game," he said, adding that he isn't interested in the debate either. "This county's gone well past the two-party system. It doesn't matter who gets in there."
You can hear the Tigers on 97.1 The Ticket or the debate on WWJ Newsradio 950 and here at CBSDetroit.com.
