Police: Woman Passed Over For Promotion Stole From Employer
FENTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A 45-year-old woman is facing embezzlement charges after police say she stole nearly a quarter million dollars from her Genesee County employer.
Christine Desonia of Livingston County's Deerfield Township is charged with embezzlement of more than $100,000 for stealing the money from a Fenton Township glass fabrication manufacturer where she worked as an office manager.
Sheriff Robert Pickell said Desonia took the money between 2007 and 2009 after being passed over for a promotion.
She allegedly set up a fake bank account for the company and used the money to buy five rental homes.
Desonia was arrested on June 11th and is free on a $7,500 personal bond pending a preliminary exam on Wednesday. If convicted, she faces 20 years in prison.
