Police To Reveal Exactly What Happened In Stony Creek Metropark Crash That Killed 3 Teens

MACOMB (WWJ) - The Macomb County Sheriff's Department is releasing the results of their investigation into a crash at Stony Creek Metropark that killed three teens.

Seventeen-year-olds Jonathan Manolios and Emanuel Malaj, both of Sterling Heights, and Michael Wells, of Macomb Township were killed in the May 8 crash. Two other 17-year-olds from Shelby Township, Greg Bobchick and Joseph Narra, suffered serious injuries.

Police say the teens' vehicle, a 2008 Jaguar S-type sedan, sped through a guardrail and tumbled down an grassy embankment, dropping 20 feet into the water below. Only one of the five teenagers was wearing a seat belt. The other four were ejected from the vehicle.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham has previously said that alcohol might have been a factor in the high-speed crash. "Remnants of alcohol" were found inside the car, but it's not clear if the teens had been drinking.

Wickersham is expected to clear up a lot of questions surrounding the crash. He could reveal which teen was driving the vehicle and if any were under the influence of alcohol.

Officials could also reveal whether or not charges will be brought in the case.

Stony Creek Metropark is located in Shelby Township, about 35 miles north of Detroit.
