Police Seek Tips In Good Samaritan Carjacking
FRENCHTOWN TWP. (WWJ) - Police are looking for up to four suspects after a woman was carjacked Easter Sunday night along I-75 when she stopped to help a man in apparent trouble.
The Newport woman told police she pulled over when she saw a man lying on the exit ramp from I-75 northbound to Newport Road in Monroe County's Frenchtown Township.
The victim told police she was then assaulted by several men who tried to steal her car. They ran away when she began honking the horn.
Police said the woman was not seriously hurt, but sustained some minor injuries.
One of the suspects (depicted in the sketch above), was described as a black male in his late teens or early twenties, with a clean-shaven face, short hair cut and a thin build. He was wearing a white t-shirt and dark pants.
The victim said there were up to 3 additional suspects she saw fleeing. One was another black male wearing a white t-shirt, and one or two other males wearing dark colored hooded sweatshirts.
