Police Seek Suspects In Blind Man Attack
A $500 reward has been offered as authorities seek suspects in the robbery of a legally blind man who was beaten with his own walking cane.
Fifty-year-old Dan Perron told police he was walking on North River Road near the Gibraltar Trade Center about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when he was jumped from behind by several men.
Perron tells The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens the suspects kicked and hit him and tried getting into his pockets by turning him upside down.
Perron said he believes the attackers saw he had money when he cashed his disability check at a bank, then stopped at a store to get a money order for his rent. The suspects stole the remaining $600.
A witness chased away the suspects. Police said several suspects were in custody but no arrests have been made.
