Police Seek Suspect In Auto Parts, Dollar Store Robberies

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are trying to identify and locate a man who is wanted for several armed robberies throughout the city.

Investigators say the man is suspected of robbing multiple Family Dollar, AutoZone and O'Reillys Auto Parts businesses.

The man is described as a black male in his 50's with a light complexion and missing teeth. He was last seen wearing a gray jump suit with a black baseball cap.

Most recently, police say the man robbed the AutoZone store on 7 Mile and Hubbell around 3:30 p.m. last Thursday. Six days earlier, police say the man robbed an AutoZone store on Plymouth Road near the Southfield Freeway around 5:15 p.m.

Police say the man has been witnessed leaving the scene of his crimes in different vehicles, including:

  • A grey pick-up truck, possibly Ford
  • A black Chevy Silverado, extended cab, spray painted bed
  • A 1998 blue Buick Century
  • A grey newer model compact car, possibly a KIA
  • A 1994 grey Honda Accord

Due to the variety of vehicles used during the crime sprees, police believe the suspect may be a local neighborhood mechanic and is driving the customer's vehicle during the robberies.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents or the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. You can also submit a tip online at www.1800speakup.org, or text "CSM" and your tip to CRIMES (274637).
