Police Seek Public's Assistance Finding Gas Station Robbers

LENOX TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- Police are asking the public's help to find a masked gunman who held up a gas station in Lenox Township in Macomb County early Friday morning.

At around 2:30 a.m., a man welding a handgun entered the store and confronted the clerk. Macomb County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the Shell Gas Station located on the northwest corner of 26 Mile and County Line Roads in Lenox Township.

The suspect handed the clerk a bag and demanded the cash drawers be emptied and place the money into the bag. The subject took the money and two cartons of Newport cigarettes before exiting the store. A dark-colored GMC pick-up truck, with lights across the top of the cab, was observed leaving the scene and travelling southbound on County Line Rd.

The suspect wore a camouflaged mask, a tan coat, a blue shirt and he was wearing black gloves with green lining.

Deputies were able to determine that the assailant was in possession of two handguns, one a silver revolver and the second was a black semi-automatic.

This same station had been robbed on October 6 when a gunman took an undisclosed sum of money from the store, and a carton of Newport cigarettes.

Anyone who may have information on the identity of the man is asked to call the Macomb County Sheriff's Office at 586-307-9412.
