Police Seek Man Who Tried To Lure Child With Candy
SALEM TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - It's a stranger danger alert in Washtnenaw County as State Police are looking for a man who attempted to lure a child into his car with candy.
The attempted abduction happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Salem Township near the intersection of 6 Mile and Currie Road.
State Police Sergeant Chris Pascoe told WWJ Newsradio 950's Kathryn Larson the 10-year-old boy wasn't enticed by the offer and did the right thing.
"The child went and notified the parents immediately," Pascoe said. "So,obviously the child was aware and didn't fall for this and was actually a very good witness, giving us a description of the suspect."
The attempted abductor is described as a white male about 25 to 30 years old with short black hair and a goatee. The suspect also has numerous tattoos on his hands and arms. He was wearing a black, long-sleeved AC/DC t-shirt and driving a black pickup truck with tinted windows.
