Police Seek Hit-And-Run Driver Who Dragged Man 3 Miles
WALKER, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Police in western Michigan are looking for a hit-and-run driver who fled after striking a 61-year-old pedestrian and dragging him for about three miles.
The Grand Rapids Press reports Larry Calvin Burton of Walker was trying to cross Wilson Avenue at Chesterfield at around !0:30 p.m. Friday when he was hit by a southbound vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Grand Rapids girl.
Police said Burton was then hit by another vehicle traveling northbound. That vehicle dragged him until his body was dislodged, and then just drove away.
Walker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police in the Grand Rapids-area community of Walker say they're looking for a dark-colored SUV with 10-15 racing-related bumper stickers on the back window and bumper.
Police also are looking to talk with a potential witness who was driving a dark-colored pickup truck.
