Tragedy Strikes Twice For Macomb Family With Death Of Son At CMU

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Police are seeking help from the public in identifying a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a Central Michigan University freshman near the school's Mount Pleasant campus.

Ryan Tsatsos of Macomb Township was walking to his residence hall with friends early Sunday morning when he was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The area near the CMU campus is described as being poorly lit and has no sidewalks.

Police say witnesses describe the vehicle as older and dark in color with four doors. It likely has front passenger-side damage.

No other injuries were reported. Counseling was made available at Merrill Hall and adjacent residence halls.

This is the second tragedy to strike the Tsatsos family this year -- three months ago, Tsatsos' 19-year-old brother Darryl was killed in a crash in Macomb County.

Michigan State Police have established an anonymous tip line as they seek the driver wanted in this case. Anyone with information can call 877-616-4677 to remain anonymous, or call the MSP Mount Pleasant Post at 989-773-5951.

Meantime, a GoFundMe account has been set up to help with funeral and other expenses for Tsatsos' family. To contribute or for more information, visit this link.
