Police Searching For Gunman On Detroit's West Side
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are searching for a suspect who opened fire in a west side neighborhood, injuring one man.
The shooting happened early Tuesday morning on Ferguson near Vasser, just west of the Southfield Freeway along 7 Mile Road.
Circumstances surrounding the shooting weren't immediately clear. The victim was taken to a local hospital with at least one gunshot wound.
Neighbor Sherelle Slater said she was sleeping when the shots started flying.
"They woke me up about four o'clock in the morning -- shooting," Slater told WWJ's Mike Campbell.
The shooting stopped just as soon as it started, Slater said, leaving a man bleeding from his arm on the sidewalk.
"I know him, but not like personally, you know, because I don't be in their business -- I don't know what happened. All I know is he got shot in the arm, and they shot about four or five time," she said. "Whatever is going on, they need to clean up this neighborhood. That's what they need to do."
Police are still looking for gunman. Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 313-267-4600.
