Police Search For Man Whose Clothes, Truck Found Near Detroit River
WYANDOTTE (WWJ) - Police in Wyandotte are searching for a 40-year-old Dearborn man whose clothes and truck were found abandoned by the Detroit River in Bishop Park.
Officers responding to a call from a concerned citizen say they found a man's clothing and prescription sunglasses on a bench adjacent to the water, and a pair of work boots on a ledge on the water-side of the railing, in the north area of the park around 12:29 p.m. Saturday. Police say the park was heavily occupied and there were no witnesses to anyone jumping into the water.
Later that day, a night-shift patrol unit noticed a pick-up truck parked in the area that was seemingly abandoned. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle belonged to Ramas Paull McCrory, who resides in Dearborn.
Police say they then made contact with McCrory's girlfriend, who identified the found clothing and boots as belonging to her boyfriend. The woman told police she feared McCrory was missing after he didn't return home that evening.
The U.S. Coast Guard, along with other law enforcement agencies, searched the area near the park and downstream with watercraft and helicopters -- but found no signs of McCrory.
McCrory is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 210 pounds.
Anyone with information on McCrory's whereabouts is urged to contact the Wyandotte Police Department at 734 324-4438.
