Police Search For Clues In The Shooting Death Of 'Coach'

DETROIT (WWJ) - A recently retired Detroit Public Schools high school basketball coach was fatally shot on April 30, outside of his home in Detroit.

Police said 54-year-old Charles Knott, who was also know around the area as Coach, was found dead in his car late Tuesday night.

Knott coached the girls basketball team at Cody High School for 20 years.

The incident happened in the parking lot of his apartment complex on Petoskey, near I-96 and Joy Road on Detroit's west side. According to an autopsy report, Knott was shot several times — including in the back.
