Police Say Woman Fatally Shot Home Intruder
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Police say a 38-year-old woman fatally shot a man who broke into her Detroit home.
Police say the woman on Thursday spotted the man, who was among a group breaking into her home. She got a gun and fired, killing a 19-year-old.
The other men fled and the homeowner was questioned by police. The Wayne County prosecutor's office was expected to review details of the shooting to determine whether charges would be filed.
It's the second time recently that a Detroit homeowner has fatally shot an intruder.
Prosecutors said that 75-year-old Willie White was acting in self-defense when he shot an 18-year-old man on March 27. White said he feared for his life and had no other choice but to fire.
"He made himself available for me to shoot, and as much as he came into the house. And I felt threatened and I shot him," White said.
