Police Say Naked Man Tried To Kidnap 2 Girls
FLINT (WWJ) - A Flint man is facing charges in connection with the attempted abduction of two girls near Birch Run.
Investigators say 46-year-old Denver Edgley was naked when he jumped from his car and tried to abduct the two girls, ages 10 and 14, while they were riding bikes in Montrose Township Monday night. The girls were able to fight him off and fled.
The girls told authorities what happened and gave a description of the suspect's vehicle. That description led police to a house where they found Edgley and arrested him.
The Genesee County Prosecutor has charged the Flint man with attempted kidnapping, aggravated indecent exposure and accosting children for immoral purposes. If convicted, Edgley faces up to life in prison.
Edgley has a lengthy criminal history, including spending 16 years in jail for felonious assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping in Genesee County, as well as a fourth degree criminal sexual conduct conviction in Shiawassee County in 1988.
Edgley is currently being held on $300,000 bond in Genesee County Jail.
