Boyfriend To Be Charged In Farmington Woman's Murder
FARMINGTON (WWJ) – The boyfriend of a missing Farmington woman is now a suspect in her murder.
Police said 29-year-old Kaitlin Hehir was found dead Saturday night in the home she shared with her boyfriend on Colchester near Orchard Lake and 10 Mile Road.
Sources talking to WWJ Newsradio 950 said Hehir's body was cut up into pieces.
Farmington Public Safety Director Robert Schultz said the 28-year-old suspect had initially called police to report his girlfriend missing after she'd allegedly dropped him off at home and then returned to a party.
"[He said] she had left a party late Friday evening and had not been seen or heard from since," Schultz said.
Friends said, however, Hehir had not returned to the party after leaving to pick up her boyfriend.
Schultz said investigators later discovered evidence, reportedly bloody plastic, inside the couple's home and took the man into custody.
Schultz said the suspect later confessed that he and Hehir had gotten into an argument which turned physical.
An autopsy has been completed, but no cause of death has yet been determined.
The man was expected to be arraigned on Tuesday at which time he will be named by authorities. The case is being reviewed by the Oakland County Prosecutor's office.
Hehir worked as a deputy clerk at Farmington Hills District Court. The administrator there told WWJ she was an "outstanding employee and person."
This is the first murder in the City of Farmington since 2005.
