Police: Roseville Woman Set Boyfriend On Fire
A Roseville woman is facing two assault charges after allegedly lighting her boyfriend on fire and then threatening to stab him.
Shelia Golly was arraigned Monday on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Roseville Deputy Police Chief James Berlin says they were apparently arguing Sunday night about the man's drinking and Golly wanted him to leave the apartment.
Chief Berlin tells WWJ the woman threw acetone on him, then lit it.
"Acetone is nail polish remover -- common in most homes. It's also highly flammable and she apparently knew this because she used it as a weapon in this case," he said.
Berlin says the 44-year-old man has second and third degree burns on his legs and feet and is hospitalized. He says their children, a 10-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl, may have witnessed the attack.
The kids are now in the custody of child protective services.
Golly is being held on a 200,000 bond. A not-guilty plea was entered and she requested a court-appointed lawyer.
A preliminary examination is scheduled Jan. 12.
