Police Respond To Report Of Threat At Ch. 4
DETROIT (WWJ) - Police and firefighters spent several hours at the studios of WDIV- TV (Channel 4) in downtown Detroit Thursday evening, responding to a report of a threat to the station. The unknown threat was called in about 7 p.m.
Newsradio 950 spoke with channel 4's Chuck Gadica about the incident: "Apparently there was a suspicious package dropped in the outer lobby of the building, there was a partial evacuation of our building and then by the time I pulled up it was apparent they had cordoned off at least two square blocks around local 4 and had completely evacuated our building," says Gadica.
Detroit Police said the station had reported a threat of a suspicious package. As a precaution, police called several firefighters to the studio on Lafayette near Third.
Police searched the building, but it's unknown if anything suspicious was found.
