Police Name Suspect In Shooting Of 3-Year-Old Girl
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police have now identified the man wanted in connection with the shotgun shooting of a 3-year-old girl earlier this week.
Investigators said 20-year-old Vernon Coles is suspected of shooting the little girl outside a home on Cardoni Street on the city's east side.
"Regardless of what the altercation was, there is no excuse for what happened – there is no excuse for a 3-year-old being shot," said Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee, following the incident Tuesday evening.
The child, who was struck in the chest, arm and leg, is recovering from her injuries.
Coles was still at large on Thursday. Anyone who sees him should not approach him, but call 9-1-1 or Detroit police.
