Police: Mom Sends Daughter Into Grocery Store With Shoplifting List
MACOMB COUNTY (WWJ) - A Macomb Township woman is facing charges for allegedly sending her 11-year-old daughter into a Kroger grocery store to do some shoplifting for her.
Kimberly Swift handed her daughter a grocery list Thursday and allegedly told the girl to get the stuff without paying for it while she and her two other young children waited in the car.
The 29-year-old mom then attempted to return some laundry detergent the girl stole so she could get cash.
Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham spoke with WWJ about the incident.
"They took a few quantities of detergent and the mother went in to try to return them to get cash - saying that her daughter got the wrong brand and at that point they alerted store security," said Wickersham.
"She did make a statement to the deputies that made the arrest, that fact that, she claimed she didn't have a job, she wasn't getting child support and her state assistance was terminated," said Wickersham.
Swift has been charged with retail fraud and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
