Police: Mom Arrested For Neglect After Dragging Child Down Street
HOWELL (WWJ) - A Howell mother has been arrested for child neglect after dragging her 18-month-old child down the street.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Department said the 39-year-old mother had threatened to throw the child out of a window before she was found dragging the child on Whittemore Street Tuesday morning. The child was only wearing a shirt.
Deputies were able to separate the mother from the child and took the woman to St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac for mental health treatment.
Investigators say the mother was staying at Haven because of a prior domestic assault.
The child is with Child Protective Services after attempts to contact relatives were negative.
An investigation is ongoing. Prosecutors will ultimately decide if criminal charges will be filed
