UPDATE: Missing 14-Year-Old Eastpointe Girl Found Safe
EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - Police in Eastpointe say a missing 14-year-old girl has been found safe.
Police say Lenaya Mead, a seventh grader at Kelly Middle School, was located unharmed and reunited with her family Friday morning.
Lenaya, who has Asperger's syndrome and was considered in danger, was reported missing by her mother, who last saw her before school Thursday morning.
Authorities say the whole incident turned out to be a misunderstanding. Lenaya apparently told her mom she was going to a friend's house to spend the night, but her mother didn't recall giving her permission.
Police say there's nothing suspicious about the incident.
