Police: Masked Gunman Climbs Through Window, Robs Residents Near University Of Michigan
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - A crime alert has been issued for the University of Michigan, after two people were robbed in an off-campus break-in.
The incident happened around 4:15 a.m.Tuesday in the 900 block of S. State Street, near Hoover Avenue.
According to police, an unknown man climbed through a window and confronted a resident while brandishing a handgun. The suspect left the house after robbing two residents, police said. No injuries were reported.
The suspect was described by witnesses as a male, about 5'10" tall, wearing all black clothes with a mask pulled over his face. He was also carrying a dark-colored backpack.

In wake of the robbery, police are reminding the campus community to ensure their safety with the following tips:
• Look assertive and be aware of your surroundings.
• Be aware that your risk increases in secluded and isolated areas.
• Walk with a trusted friend or co-worker when possible.
• Trust your intuition -- if a particular situation makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, choose an alternative
• Have your keys in hand before you reach your vehicle or residence.
• If you feel threatened on campus, look for a blue light emergency phone or call 911 from any phone.
• Keep rooms and apartments locked at all times.
