Police: Man Threw Girlfriend Out Motel Window In Royal Oak
ROYAL OAK TWP. (WWJ/AP) - A judge has set bond at $765,000 for a man who's accused of throwing his girlfriend out a third-story motel room window, then attacking her as she lay on the ground.
Bobby McKenzie on Tuesday was arraigned on one felony count of assault with intent to murder. The 52-year-old Royal Oak Township man is due back in court on May 14.
The 47-year-old woman McKenzie allegedly assaulted was taken to a hospital, underwent surgery and is expected to recover.
Police say the attack happened around 9:20 p.m. Friday at the Royal Inn, on 8 Mile Road near Meyers Road in Royal Oak Township, when McKenzie forced the woman out of the window.
Police say the woman, who was not identified, begged for mercy before dropping 20 feet and landing in a parking lot, The Daily Tribune reported. McKenzie then went down to the parking lot and further assaulted the woman before returning to his room, according to police.
Other guests at the motel saw what happened and called 911. Police arrived and arrested McKenzie as the woman was rushed to the hospital.
The couple was reportedly arguing over money before the incident.
