Police: Man Rammed SUV Packed With Kids
BRIGHTON (WWJ) - A Brighton man is in jail after State Police say he deliberately rammed his car into an SUV that was loaded with children.
Troopers say a 34-year-old woman, behind the wheel of a vehicle with seven kids inside, encountered the suspect driving his Ford Escort erratically along old U-S 23.
Police say the 26-year-old man began to tailgate the woman, and deliberately hit the back of the her Cadillac Escalade twice, and then got out of the car and allegedly began yelling and beating on the driver's side window. Police say that's when the man ripped off the side-view mirror.
Police said the suspect ran from the scene through some nearby woods where he was arrested a short time later.
He is being held in the Livingston County Jail on charges of Felonious Assault and Malicious Destruction of Property. His name has not yet been released.
There were no reports of injuries.
